, president obama will start a new push for the health-care.gov website. in an event at the white house he will highlight people he says have been held by his health or care reform law and website. the president also working on possible subsidies to insurance companies to let people keep their existing insurance plans as was originally promised. the government say most of the glitches on these website have now been fixed. and now that to the website is supposed to be running smoother, consumers are reporting mixed success as they try and lock on to the updated health care exchange. >>james: and man was killed in a shark attack while fishing from a kayak in hawaii. it happened but it off the island of maui. apparently, the fishermen speak for dangling over the edge of his kayak when a shark bit one of them. a friend kayaking near by tried to stop the man's bleeding with a tourniquet and called on a nearby tour boat for health and they sailed a shore. >>: we all helped get the entire kayak with the body on to the boat. my wife, who is a physician determined as well as she could that the pers

' union told c-n-n the investigation so far points to human error. a new poll finds californians are split on president obama's efforts to overhaul the nation's health care system. the public policy institute of california found just 44 percent of voters are in favor of the president's affordable care act. while the same percentage don't approve of the law. this is despite two thirds of uninsured residents who say they plan on getting coverage by next year now that its more available to them. at the same time, mr. obama's job approval rating has taken a hit, with 51 percent of californians approving. that matches a record low from two years ago and is down 10 points from last summer. and a shocking discovery as other wells have to euthanize to because of the poor condition they were found in print now wildlife officials are just trying to save the rest. >>: they're all for release to me now. >>: the area is pretty remote. officials say it is peppered with sand bars in san flexi-van at high tide as they try to nudge the whales to see many turned and came back. >>: we tried this technique ca

, is this political brand. a new field poll, take a look, shows 43% of californians disapprove of mr. obama's job performance. that's an increase from 35% in july. nbc bay area political analyst larry gersten joins us. larry, is this a cause for democrats to be concerned even here in california? >> they may not say so, but yeah, they are concerned on several fronts. look, to begin with, the president lost support among key constituencies. take a look at the growing ranks of disapproval. these are pretty important. women up to 40% from 27% a few months ago. latinos, 34% disapproving compared to 18%. union households, up to 43% from 25% a few months ago. these were major pillars of the democratic coalition in 2012, and they are abandoning ship. >> usually here in california, we're kind of our own island, but is the disapproval kind of similar now across the country? are we reflecting that is. >> yeah, it is around the country. you wouldn't expect it here, you know, but why here above all places? blue california. well, major disappointments in key policy areas such as immigration. really a key issue

as president obama begins a three-week public relations campaign for the new healthcare law, another lawsuit was filed against the affordable care act. the university of notre dame filed a religious challenge to the healthcare overhall, saying the -- overhaul, saying the requirement that the health plans cover birth control violates roman teachings. this is one of more than 80 lawsuits attacking the law on religious grounds. it will be the supreme court who decides if employers can refuse to offer benefits under the law. but that ruling is not expected into well next year. >>> some legal experts say people hear in california should pay close attention to the provisions of the bankruptcy protection just granted for the city of detroit. the judge in that case ruled that detroit can impose cuts to the pension plans of employees. that ruling comes as a bankrupt california city, san bernardino, is considering a legal showdown with cal piers -- calpirs. the ooles ruling does --. >>> they are not giving hope. why there's new hope for a san jose pilot and his family missing since sunday in idaho. >>

this mcdonald's. this is new york this morning. fast-food companies say increasing wages as much as $15 an hour would lead to increased customer costs and fewer jobs. last month, president obama said he would back a senate measure to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. we're also expected to get some video later this morning, hopefully any time soon. mcdonald's workers protesting outside the smithsonian's national air and space museum. they work there under a federal contract. they are calling on the president to issue an executive order that companies doing bis with the federal government -- business with the federal government pay that wage. the workers say it's difficult to live on 7.25 an hour which is only about $15,000 a year. now, again, protests at 100 cities across the country here in the bay area, workers are striking. planning to strike outside of fast-food restaurants in oakland, in san jose. in our next hour of "mornings on 2," we'll have more details on where and when those walkouts will take place a little later on today. >>> reporting live in the newsroom,
